This summer we have the exciting local opportunity to join with our nationwide family of faith as MCEC hosts the Mennonite Church Canada Assembly in Kitchener-Waterloo. The theme for the Assembly is ‘Each Gift’, based on 1 Peter 4:10, recognizing how in an Intercultural diverse church, every single person has a gift to share and contribute to the larger body of faith. Full Information
We have the potential for lots of SJMC involvement in the Gathering. Steve Cox is the overall event planner. Mark Diller Harder is on the music/worship team. Kandace Boos will accompany any youth who want to attend the youth event. We can have a pastor, adult and young adult as our SJMC delegates. Others can simply attend (full time, or come out for the public worship services). You can also volunteer.
There are three ‘tracks’for participating in the Gathering:
Gathering 2025 (Track 1): Join delegates and congregational representatives for inspiring sessions, worship, and connection at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate
● _Wednesday, July 2: Celebrating the Gifts. What if the church could truly celebrate every person’s gift?
● _Thursday, July 3: Visiting the Wounds. What if we took the time to listen to stories of exclusion?
● _Friday, July 4: Transforming Injustices. How can we turn pain into blessing?
● _Saturday, July 5: You Belong. What if, in the end, we could all say, “You belong”?
U30 Gathering 2025 (Track 2): Young adults 30 and under are invited to full participation in the Gathering, but also are provided a home base for young adults through the conference. The U30 end with an extra weekend retreat, July 5-6 at Hidden Acres Camp Information on U30
